A new trend has taken over the green technology industry, with a particular focus on converting energy from water or air into drinkable water.
In a recent development, a firm called DrinkingMaker is soon expected to launch DrinkingWater, a solar-powered, next-generation multifunctional dispenser that extracts water from the air.
In light of the climate crisis leading to water scarcity, the company drew inspiration from dessert beetles and cacti to develop DrinkingWater, a new air-to-water (AWD) dispenser.
According to the company, the dispenser can yield up to 19 liters of water per day in addition to offering optional mineral-rich filter cartridges. The user can customize the mineral water as per their personal needs.
However, the most distinctive feature of the product is that it is also an air purifier and a dehumidifier that is equipped with a solar power system making it accessible even when traveling.
The company claims the dispenser operates effectively even in extremely dry conditions, as it has been powered by AquaFetch+ (characterized by efficient water production and dehumidification) and advanced graphene tech.
“It captures water in dry areas, securing valuable sources even in arid regions,” DrinkingMaker stated. “Wherever you are, DrinkingWater provides boundless purity. From labs to crises, even war zones, ensuring abundant clean water sources and peace of mind.”
The AWD referred to as the next-gen 3-in-1 Atmospheric Water Dispenser has launched its crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo, an American crowdfunding website.
The product seems to have achieved considerable backing on Indiegogo, reaching over 2,200 percent of its initial goal with about two weeks left in the campaign.
The AWD primary edition is said to be marked at $329, while the Pro Edition is $339. However, these prices are for pre-orders via the Indiegogo campaign.
Other preexisting air-to-water dispensers such as the Kara Pure by Kara Water are priced at £797.00 (roughly $996.25 USD) and Majik Water’s 500-liter unit notably costs $12,500 as per Engineering.com.
In comparison, the DrinkingMaker, similar in size to a countertop espresso machine, appears to be more affordable.
New Atlas reported that while the success of crowdfunding campaigns translating into real-world products is uncertain, the DrinkingMaker team has provided substantial collateral on the Indiegogo page, including a photo of the product exhibited at the Hong Kong Electronics Fair and videos demonstrating its real-world use.
“That seems to be enough for backers, who have pushed the campaign to reach over 2,200 percent of its initial fundraising goal, with about two weeks left to go,” the media outlet added.
DrinkingWater additionally noted that the firm’s AirTrue technology employs three major barriers: it removes 99.97 percent of harmful PM2.5 particles and effectively adsorbs 99.7 percent of particles.
The system “ensures a bacteria, virus, and allergen-free environment in spring and summer, protects the respiratory health of family members.”
